This essay is about categorical logic and whether claims such as ‘All dogs are mammals’ are necessarily committed to the existence of the subject and/or predicate. The views of Aristotle, Boole, and Venn are discussed, along with an argument for my own interpretation. The essay can be downloaded here, or in the ‘File Download’ section.
